TFSC RECOMMENDATIONS FOR FUNERAL PRACTITIONERS DURING THE COVID-19 OUTBREAK
TFSC PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO ADMINISTRATIVE RULES
At the June meeting, Commissioners finally adopted amendments to Chapter 204 relating to fees. The Commission’s fee structure was amended as a result of action by the Department of Information Resources (DIR). DIR has instructed agencies to comply with the new surcharge amounts by the end of fiscal year 2019. Under the adopted rule, fees paid by licensees either decrease or stay the same. The updated fees will apply to licensees with September expiration dates.
DSHS FETAL DEATH REPORTING TRAINING
Starting on August 1, 2019, Fetal Deaths will be able to be reported using the Electronic system, TxEVER. Previously, this was a manual/paper process. DSHS will be offering training on fetal death training reporting in July via webinars and conference calls. Look to the TxEVER page for more information.
NEWS FROM THE TFSC
The TFSC has developed an email notification system to notify licensees and stakeholders of important and time-sensitive information. If you would like to be added to the distribution list please click here.
The Commission's Invocation Policy authorizes a licensee in good standing to deliver the Invocation at Commission meetings. See the Executive Director's letter for further information.
REACHING TFSC STAFF
At this time, due to Covid-19, all staff will be telecommuting until further notice. You may send an email to the specific person you are trying to reach as they will be checking emails daily. You can find all email information to all staff on our Staff Contacts page.
The agency has two people responsible for answering the phone. If those two people are on the phone or away from their desks, the call then transfers to the agency voice mail. If you are having a problem reaching staff or not having your phone calls returned, please email the Executive Director for assistance.
The TFSC does not staff the online renewal center and online help-desk. The HPC help-desk states it can take multiple days to respond to a help ticket, especially near the end of the month. The help-desk only responds to emailed help requests. TFSC licensing staff is able to help with resetting passwords or emails for the online renewal system. The TFSC meets quarterly. Meetings are held in Austin, Texas, at the Hobby Building. Once posted, TFSC meeting agendas may be found by clicking on the following website: Texas Secretary of State Open Meetings. Type in Texas Funeral Service Commission in the “Agency Name” field and hit “Find.”
