Texas Mortuary Law Exam
The Texas Mortuary Law Exam is given the fourth Friday of every month with the exception of November and December. The examination is not administered the last two months of the year due to the holiday schedule.
The examination starts promptly at 10:00a.m., and you must be pre-registered to take the examination. The examination application form and fee must be submitted to the Texas Funeral Service Commission one week in advance of the examination date.
The location of the examination site is the Wm. P. Hobby Building, 333 Guadalupe Street, Austin, TX 78701.
The Texas Mortuary Law Exam is a 50 question, open book examination. The material on which you will be tested is Chapter 651 Texas Occupations Code, Health and Safety Code Chapter 193 Death Records, Texas Administrative Code Chapter 181 Vital Statistics, Health and Safety Code Chapter 716 Crematories. The TFSC will provide the test booklet with all the above information included.
IT IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE EXAMINEE TO ENSURE THEIR TIMELY ARRIVAL TO THE TEST SITE. EXAMINEES SHOULD ALLOW ENOUGH TIME FOR THINGS SUCH AS TRAFFIC, GETTING LOST, FINDING PARKING, ETC. BE ADVISED THAT ADDITIONAL TIME IS NOT GRANTED FOR LATE ARRIVALS.
